Supporting Transitions of Assistive Technology Users

Website: texasat.net

This module from the Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN) offers information and resources for successfully transitioning AT services and devices as part of transition planning. Allowing for some minor changes to the title lines and categories, the module examples can be considered a nearly universal resource that focuses on complying with IDEA 2004 and encourages studentsā€˜ self-determination in AT decisions. It seems that the module can be used for transition planning for students of all ages.

In addition to the handouts and worksheets, Supporting Transitions of Assistive Technology Users also includes an excellent set of presentation slides, and some striking QuickTime/Windows Media Player video tutorials, interviews, and testimonials highlighting students who have transitioned successfully throughout their school years while using several different types of AT. (Note--the videos may take time to load but they are worth it.)
